Description

EBONISED IVORY AND SILVER PROSPECT GLASS fully signed on the silver draw tube "Wm Watkins St James's Street". Barrel, eyepiece and objective lens holders made of blackened ivory that is decorated with three silver bands. Length closed 2 3/8" with single silver draw tube extending to 3 1/2". Objective lens diameter 1 3/4". Original tapered wood storage case with maroon leather covering. Condition fine throughout. William Watkins worked from 1784-1809 and used this address throughout his career. A handsome little object that dates circa 1800.
