WELL ENGRAVED SCRIMSHAW TOOTH. Nice large and heavy tooth with a scene depicting an over the stern, port view of a frigate at anchor. Vessel flying a large flag that has no country designation. On either side of vessel are small boats with natives hailing sailors that are on board. Reverse side with a view of a mountainous south seas island and palm trees. The water wraps around the entire base of the tooth. 6 1/4" h. x 3" w. Base very thick and quite solid. Condition excellent. Light, even age patina. Circa 1840-50. Quite a nice tooth.
