Description

POLYCHROME COLORED SCRIMSHAW TOOTH with one side depicting classic view of the female pirate Fanny Campbell. She is very well executed and nicely highlighted with red, green and blue ink. Reverse with full standing portrait of a well dressed woman holding a kerchief and parasol. Her dress, scarf and parasol also highlighted in red, green and blue. A very heavy, almost solid, tooth that is in excellent condition. Nice even age color throughout. 7"l. x 2 3/4" w. A quality example of this popular subject matter. Circa 1840.
